Mystic Mod Cottage
After moving back east after a few year stint in San Diego, our client’s built this home along the banks of the Mystic River just outside of Boston. The client approached us to help organize and make better use of the open-plan living, dining, kitchen area. We made better use of traffic flow by moving and situating a banquette dining area to the back wall of the kitchen. This allowed ease of use to the back entry and also allowed us to add an extra armchair to the main living area. We re-used the clients newly purchased rolled arm sectional sofa as a jumping off point for the overall color palette. Peppy reds, yellows, and blues in a range of ethnic and graphic patterns are reminiscent of southern California they left behind. Clean-lined, vintage or vintage inspired furnishings were also added to further give the space character and patina.
